Check the direction

Text-to-speech creates audio from writing. Speech recognition does the reverse and may be a completely separate service. Search for the exact direction and read the publisher description before sending a file; a voice-themed name does not confirm both operations.

Try names and numbers

Test a short paragraph with a date, a name and punctuation. Listen for pauses and emphasis, and check the language rather than only the accent label. If pronunciation matters, keep a written version and review the output; natural-sounding speech can still misread information.

Check the resulting audio

See whether the bot returns a voice message or a downloadable audio file. Check duration, format and whether you can regenerate only a changed sentence. A demonstration sample may use a different voice or quality tier from the one available in your account.

Use voices with permission

Do not assume that a cloning feature gives permission to imitate another person. Use your own authorised material and review the provider terms for reuse. Check character limits and paid quotas in the service, without inferring free unlimited access from the word TTS.
